Superior courts in Kenya

In relation to the court system in your country, State five superior courts

Superior courts include;

  • Supreme Court: it is “properly constituted for purposes of its proceedings when it has a composition of judges and ha exclusive original jurisdiction to hear and determine disputes relating to the election of the office of the president.
  • Court of appeal: it is a superior court of record therefore it sets precedents.It has limited original jurisdiction.
  • High court: being a superior court of record means that the decision of the high court is precedents and binding on the subordinate courts by the doctrine of stare decisis.
  • Industrial court: it is a superior court of record with the status of a high court and shall exercise jurisdiction throughout Kenya.
